Delegates attending the workshop

           On February 28, 2023, the ODA-funded Vocational Education and Training Projects Management Unit  (PMU) together with the TV18 consulting firm, Bach Khoa Consultancy and Technology Transfer One Member Co., Ltd., (Bkcontech) organized the 5S Workshop in Hanoi. Attending the workshop were representatives of the PMU’s leaders; National and International Experts; leaders, lecturers, and officials of 16 Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions participating in the Project.

            Attending the meeting were several representatives from different stakeholders: PMU, 16 participating schools, and international and national project consultants.

            This workshop is within the framework of Project Component 3 under the Project “Skills and Knowledge for Inclusive Economic Growth – SKIEG” funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) grant.

            Speaking at the Workshop, Ms. Tran Lien Huong – Director of the PMU shared general information about the project implementation. The director also stated the role of 5S in improving the learning and working environment, contributing to the improvement of labor productivity and learning at TVET institutions.

          The workshop focused on the current situation and instructions for the implementation of 5S at the participating TVET institutions, existing issues, and challenges.

Dr. Nicolas Alain International Expert introduced the implementation of the 5S model in France

 

            Dr. Nicolas Alain – International Team Leader/ TVET Soft Skills Consultants of the project – introduced the 5S model in France, shared experiences in 5S application, and the benefits of 5S implementation. The National Expert provided instructions for the 5S implementation at the participating TVET institution and emphasized that there is no concrete process for this activity, but TVET institutions could refer to the step-by-step process using the P-D-C-A Cycle (Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle). In addition, the experts also pointed out how to maintain and excellently operate 5S, to form a 5S culture at TVET institutions.

         06 TVET institutions participating in the project (College of Industry and Trade, College of Industrial and Technique, Cao Thang Technical College, Phu Tho College of Electromechanics, Hue Industrial College, Vinh Long University of Technology and Education) reported on their current situations of applying and implementing 5S, existing problems, and difficulties in implementation.

            During the discussion sessions, representatives from the TVET institutions shared their experiences in solving the difficulties in the 5S implementing process at their institutions.

        Through the workshop, TVET institutions gained better knowledge about 5S principles and how to deploy 5S activities in accordance with the conditions of each TVET institution. Thereby, improving the training efficiency of TVET institutions is improved, which contributes to the completion of the project’s objectives.
